Summary:

Glazescape, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the Polkadot ecosystem through community-driven events, is seeking retroactive funding from the Polkadot Treasury to cover essential marketing costs incurred during the organization of PolkadotPrague 2023. Despite the event's success, the Events Bounty did not cover these costs, stating they were out of scope. This proposal aims to secure the necessary funds to alleviate the financial burden on the organizing team and ensure the sustainability of future Polkadot events.

Full proposal

Key Points:

  1. PolkadotPrague 2023, held on June 5-6, was a highly successful event that showcased the Polkadot ecosystem and brought together community members, developers, and industry leaders.
  2. The Glazescape team undertook crucial marketing initiatives, including collaborations with Lunar Strategy for PR, and targeted Facebook and Twitter ads to drive event awareness and attendance.
  3. The Events Bounty did not cover these marketing costs, deeming them out of scope, placing a financial burden on the organizing team.
  4. Retroactive funding from the Treasury will demonstrate Polkadot's commitment to supporting ecosystem growth, encourage future event organizers, and strengthen the relationship between the Treasury and the community.

Budget:

The total requested amount is $5,162, including a 10% buffer. The breakdown of the costs is as follows:

TaskAmountStatus
PR by Lunar Strategy$3,000Delivered
Facebook Ads$982Delivered
Twitter Ads$711Delivered
10% Buffer$469Returned if unused
TOTAL$5162

Why this proposal did not go through the Events or Marketing Bounty:
The Glazescape team engaged in discussions with the Events Bounty and Marketing Bounty administrators to explore alternative funding options for the marketing costs. However, the bounty administrators stated that these costs were not within the scope of the bounty. The consensus was that a retroactive Treasury proposal would be the most appropriate course of action to secure the necessary funds.

The Polkadot community can access the full PolkadotPrague 2023 report, including event details, media coverage, and advertising campaign results, to evaluate the event's success and the importance of the marketing initiatives in driving that success.

By approving this retroactive funding request, the Polkadot community will not only support the Glazescape team in their efforts to promote the ecosystem but also set a precedent for the Treasury to back essential marketing initiatives that contribute to the success of Polkadot events.

Hello, I'm assuming that the Events Bounty rejected the extra amount due to it being outside the limits, but I can see in the reports that the campaign has benefited from it. I have just one question. What was the necessity that caused Glazescape go over the budget limits? Was it a minimum limit imposed by Lunar Strategy? I'm switching to abstain from aye for now. I remain closer to aye. Best regards, kukabi | Helikon

Was there, good event in times when crypto winter was very cold.
