We are re-submitting our proposal for opening HRMP channels between Polkadot Asset Hub and Polimec. Our initial proposal passed with 99.7% in favour, unfortunately the automatic execution of the channel opening caused an unforeseen error due to the need for the parachain sovereign accounts to have the existential deposit in addition to the channel deposit.

As per available documentation the sovereign accounts of Polkadot Asset Hub and Polimec on Polkadot need 20 DOT reserves to execute a channel opening. This is in accordance with the current documentation available on Polkadot wiki.

However with the move from root to general admin track these 2*20 DOT reserves can no longer be paid by root, but needs to be manually transferred by the proposer of the HRMP channel opening proposer. We did the manual transfer to the 2 sovereign accounts of 20 DOT which mimics the process described by the Polkadot wiki and in line with the proposal submitted by Zeitgeist. This process was tested and we performed trial runs of the call via the chopsticks tool which executed without any issue.

However the execution of our proposal still failed to execute automatically. With the assistance of the Web3 Foundation and Parity we have found what the root cause of the error is. The cause was that the sovereign accounts now also need DOT to cover the existential deposit as well as estimated transaction fee for the channel opening.

Consequently we have funded the sovereign account with additional 3 DOT to cover the existential deposit required as well as funding for fees for the execution of the HRMP channel opening extrinsic.

Unfortunately there is no way to re-execute the already passed proposal. Hence we are therefore now submitting an identical proposal to our initial proposal for consideration for the Polkadot community. We once again ask for your support in opening the HRMP channels so that users on Polimec can transfer USDT, USDC or other tokens from Polkadot Asset Hub to Polimec in order to use these tokens to participate in funding rounds on Polimec.
