What is plaza.fun?
When Robert Habermeier proposed the Plaza, he envisioned a hub waiting to come alive — "the New York City, Dubai, London, or Shenzhen of the Polkadot continent."
Every great city needs a marketplace. We're building the meme marketplace layer for the Hub.
plaza.fun lets anyone launch a meme token on Polkadot Hub through a bonding curve — no presale, no team allocation, 100% fair launch.
What Makes It Different
🔗 Native Assets, Not Contracts — Tokens are issued via pallet_assets at the runtime level, not ERC-20 contracts. In practice, this means assets live directly in the Polkadot runtime, with fewer moving parts, lower overhead, and native access from both Substrate and EVM tools (MetaMask, ethers.js — everything just works).
🌉 XCM-Ready From Day One — As native pallet_assets, tokens are built for cross-chain. No bridges, no wrapping.
🔥 Burn & Earn — When a token graduates to DEX:
- 90% of LP is burned — Liquidity permanently locked. Rug pulls via LP removal are structurally impossible.
- 10% of LP is locked — Creator receives a transferable FeeKeyNFT, earning DEX trading fees indefinitely.
On most meme platforms, creators dump and disappear. On plaza.fun, the rational move is to build a community — because your earnings grow with volume.

We originally submitted #1853 on the Small Tipper track — thanks to the feedback from @gatotech and others who pointed us toward Wish for Change as the right track for this signal vote. So here we are!
This referendum is currently waiting for the 20,000 DOT Decision Deposit (fully refundable) to move into the Deciding phase. As builders, we'd rather put our DOT into development and testing than lock it in governance deposits.
If anyone in the community is willing to place the deposit, we'd really appreciate it 🙏

Good point and worth clarifying: plaza.fun isn't claiming to be the Plaza that Rob envisioned. His blog post inspired us — the idea of the Hub as a living city resonated, and we saw an opportunity to build one specific piece: a fair-launch meme marketplace.
We're a team of builders shipping a product on Polkadot Hub. The name is a nod to the vision, not a claim to own it. Happy to make that distinction clearer in our materials.
