Treasury Proposal: Polkadot Africa Builder and community growth (West and East Africa regions, other regions)
Short description: Continued support of dedicated agents focused on building and growing Polkadot’s builder and community presence in Africa.
In the past 6 months, Polkadot Africa has focused on activating local communities through high-quality events, developer engagement, and grassroots education through online workshops and online bootcamps.
So far, we've achieved the following in 6 months:
- Engaged 3,000+ people in person.
- Hosted 45+ events across multiple countries. With different types of meetups.
- Onboarded 20+ PBAx participants and 3 currently accepted to PBA Bali!!!
- Participated in the global Encode x Scalable hackathon. Some of our community members won OpenGuild bounties.
- Hosted Runtime developers' calls. Thereby, attracting builders actively contributing to the Polkadot SDK.
- Grown our online community to 1,000+ active members.
- Steadily streamlining resources for the community through our website.
- Read more about our milestones and achievements here
This proposal seeks 1 year of funding to expand on that momentum, shifting from activation to retention, education, developer community growth and builder support.
Context for this proposal
Africa presents a unique opportunity for Polkadot. Real-life events have unlocked trust and accelerated onboarding. However, sustained growth requires deeper support for builders, more accessible learning paths, and localised resources. The next step is to foster a collaborative strategy towards onboarding developers, pushing brand awareness, and streamlined first-class support for builders to build use cases on the network that apply to Polkadot and Africa.

Hello,
You've done a great job. I'd like to share my questions:
-
Do you have any financial statements showing how the funds were used in the previous proposal?
-
Could you please detail the specific infrastructure costs you're mentioning?
Thanks
No No, Africa is not a good market, we cant waste money on this.
