AAG Presentation

Goal: Hire an Ecosystem Talent Lead for 12 months to get talent placed in open roles in the ecosystem.

1. TL;DR

  • Problem: Persistent mismatch between available talent and open roles; current ad‑hoc processes leave potential contributors idle and teams understaffed.
  • Solution: An Ecosystem Talent Lead who introduces HR expertise and culture into the ecosystem, builds an efficient, job‑matching marketplace, integrates existing Web3 job boards, and actively partners with talent partners like IPTS, Parity & W3F HR, and the Ambassador Program.
  • Budget: 140 000 USDC
  • Duration: 12 months
  • KPIs (12 m):
    1. Design a talent pipeline by Week 5
    2. Launch Talent Hub
      a. Requirements + Workflow by Month 3
      b. If OpenGov-approved, implementation begins by Month 5
      c. Launch platform beta by Month 7
    3. Talent plan for year 2 delivered by Month 10
    4. ≥ 20 verified placements by Month 12
  • Address: 13vNuif3hJRwseaoyAXvUHfNoJBEvgGFZKx8PpdEEHksEoqp (Pure Proxy Multisig)

2. Context & Motivation

Ecosystem agents constantly identify needed roles to be filled and programs to be run, while existing talent inside and the outside the ecosystem remains untapped. Competitor networks (e.g. Ethereum’s internship season) run funded talent hubs. We need to attack those near-term and long-term issues by bringing in HR expertise.

3. Objectives

  1. Design a talent pipeline by Week 5
  2. Launch Talent Hub
    1. Requirements + Workflow by Month 3
    2. If OpenGov-approved, implementation begins by Month 5
    3. Launch platform beta by Month 7
  3. Talent plan for year 2 delivered by Month 10
  4. ≥ 20 verified placements by Month 12

4. Scope of Work

In scope:

  • Manual outreach & screening to hire talent into relevant positions in the ecosystem
  • Lead the creation of a Talent Hub for talent ↔ role matching
  • Monthly KPI reporting.

5. Payment Schedule

Monthly disbursement: 7 500 USD salary is paid from the multisig at the beginning of each month upon curator approval of the Ecosystem Talent Lead’s activity report. Performance bonus and operational budgets (equipment, ads, tools, services) are drawn on demand with multisig sign‑off.

6. Budget Breakdown

8. Governance & Process

  • After the proposal has passed, a request for applications will be published.
  • Applicants have 4 weeks time to submit
  • Interviews will happen on a rolling basis.
  • Current role draft here.
  • Curators will decide on the hire.
  • Decision will be made within 4 weeks after applications closed.
  • Monthly salary payouts (7 500 USD) and on‑demand operational withdrawals are executed by the curator multisig.

9. Reporting & Compliance

  • Monthly public KPI dashboard and forum update.
  • Quarterly spend vs. results audit
  • Follows Bounty Compliance Standards 1.0 (Ref 1254).

I'm Aye for this proposal for a common good ecosystem resource.
Many teams lack sufficient time to search for candidates outside our ecosystem, which applies to bounties seeking to expand operations, as well as OpenGov-funded development projects.

PolkaWorld votes AYE!

We agree with the issues and current challenges highlighted by the proposer, and we fully recognize the importance of effective talent matching for the healthy functioning of Polkadot and the OpenGov system.

However, we did have three main concerns:

  1. Can the Ecosystem Talent Lead help establish clear compensation standards?
  2. What exactly will this role’s responsibilities and decision-making processes be within the OpenGov framework?
  3. What specific roles or types of talent are currently missing in the ecosystem? Will this person be responsible for identifying those gaps?

The proposer has provided responses that we find satisfactory. You can view all the details and feedback here.
